St Patricks - School

St.Patrick's is a welcoming school for both boys in residence and day-pupils. The general aim of the school is to promote the educational, social and moral development of each student, first and foremost those in residence. It seeks to provide this in a positive and caring environment that facilitates the student to find safety and support. Hence it is vital that day-pupils admitted into St. Patrick's contribute to this aim and be of benefit to those in residence.

The school follows the National Minimum Curriculum as established by the Education Department. Classes start from Year 5 up to Form 5, having not more than fifteen students in each class, to ensure individual attention. Besides the main subjects taught, lessons are given on Food Preparation and Cooking which is one of the favourite subjects among the students. Special activities include woodwork, arts and crafts, music and playing an instrument in the school band, learning how to build a web-page and drama.

Two main drama activities are organised annually: the Pantomime before Christmas and the Musical for the Prize-Day in the second term both attended by many parents and friends. The school offers the service of a guidance teacher, drama therapist, educational psychologist, clinical psychologist and a family therapist. This helps traumatised children heal and regain their self-confidence along with a positive outlook on life. No doubt for some of them St. Patrick's is an opportunity for a fresh start in life, a place to learn how to go about
forging new healthy social relationships.
